We have some fun events coming up over the next term, and we’re also helping to fund some great experiences for the children – from residential trips and sporting events through to gardening activities and tree planting. Join us at the following:

Friday 19 January – Movie Night!
Wear your pyjamas and rock up at school at 4:45pm Friday evening for a movie with your friends. Bring sleeping bags, bean bags, soft toys or whatever helps you feel cosy. This year we’re showing Paw Patrol 2 and Matilda the Musical. There will be plenty of popcorn, and parents can stick around for a chat and a cuppa, or to rifle through our second hand uniform sale.

Date TBC January – hedge planting!
Whether you have green fingers or not, tree planting is something everyone can have a go at. We have plenty of people on hand to help out, and 150 saplings to plant to form the school’s brand new native, mixed-species hedgerow which will be both a screen from the road and a teaching tool for children. We will also be helping to re-erect the teepees after they came down in the recent winds, and to weave in the willow hedge. If you have gloves or spades please do bring them along.

POSTPONED New date TBC – it’s Ceilidh time!
Join us at Shoscombe’s first Burns Night Ceilidh! With Miss Arnold’s very own Ceilidh band providing the tunes, a buffet and a bar, this is set to be a really fun night to brighten everyone’s January. We’re holding it from 7:30pm at Beacon Hall in Peasedown so book a babysitter and bring your friends – open to all, not just the school community.

Wednesday 7 February – FOSSA meeting
Our next meeting will be at 7:30pm at the Apple Tree in Shoscombe, as always everyone is welcome, the agenda will be shared on our blog beforehand and minutes are also made available afterwards. See you there!

Friday 9 February – Football Bakeoff!
You will have seen that Mr Hemings is running a football festival at the end of this half term – well FOSSA is holding a FOOTBALL THEMED BAKEOFF! Children are invited to bring three decorate cupcakes with a football theme (be creative!) on a plate for judging on Friday 9 February. There will be a prize for nursery/reception, Y1&2, y3&4, and Y5&6. Parents are invited to join us at the end of the day to see all of the entries and for a cake sale to raise funds to support sport at the school.
